Saint George (ca. 275/281 – 23 April 303) was, according to tradition, a Roman soldier in the Guard of Diocletian, who is venerated as a Christian martyr. In hagiography Saint George is one of the most venerated saints in the Roman Catholic Church, Anglican Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodoxy, and the Eastern Catholic Churches. He is immortalized in the tale of Saint George and the Dragon and is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. His memorial is celebrated on 23 April, and he is regarded as one of the most prominent military saints.

When the St.George church Manjapra is preparing for its warming ceremony with holy Mooron it is a time to reminiscence the historical movement of our forefathers for the inception of this church. At that time there was only one parish consisting of two churches one at Akapparambu and the other St Mary’s Church at Angamaly. For the people belonged to Jacobite Syrian Church it was the people of Manjapra who wished to have separate church considering the convenience for attending the Holy Mass. That desire developed into a dream. The daring forefathers had convenience all the challenges and made that dream a reality. Hence beauriful church came into existance the first offspring of Angamaly Akapparambu Mothers church. In 1873 Fevryart 15 the Metropolitan His Late Joseph Mor Dionysius Pulikkottil laid the fondation stone for the church. Now st. George Church is the parental church for 4 parishes.
The last general body decided  to complete the construction of the church and to conduct the formal and official warming of it with the Holy Mooron. H B Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I Catholicos has kindly consented to this proposal and the zonal metropolitan His Dr. Abraham Mor Severious had kindly given all the guidence and direction for the same. After 137 years the [resent general was blessed with the golden opportunity of witnessing this historical even and receive abundant dvine blessing.
